You can reach the island all year round, from the ports of Milazzo and Messina. From June to September, you can reach the island from the ports of Palermo, Reggio Calabria and Naples. Journey times vary depending on the chosen place of departure. Click HERE for timetables and prices.
Trains to Milazzo, from all major Italian cities: Rome, Milan, Naples, Venice, Turin, Palermo and Messina. Crossing by ship (about 2 hours) or hydrofoil (about 50 minutes).
From Catania Airport, taxi or minibus to the port of Milazzo (1 hour and 20 mins). Crossing by ship (about 2 hours) or hydrofoil (about 50 minutes). From Reggio Calabria Airport, taxi or minibus to the port where the hydrofoils depart daily (about 2 hours).
Cars can be taken onto the ferries: From Naples (11 hours - night trip); From the port of Milazzo by ship (about 2 hours). From the port of Vulcano, free shuttle to and from the hotel.
